SimpleLabOS reads the notification emails iTero, 3Shape, and Medit Link already send your lab when a case is submitted, and puts what it finds on a case in your Scanner Inbox. How much of the case arrives filled in depends on what the platform put in the email — a great deal for Medit, almost nothing for 3Shape.
Every major scanner platform already emails your lab a notification when a case is submitted. SimpleLabOS reads those emails and puts everything it can find on a case in your Scanner Inbox. Whether that adds up to a working case or just a record with a link depends entirely on how much the platform chose to put in the mail.
Because it works off the email rather than a scanner-specific cloud connection, it applies to iTero, 3Shape, Medit Link and most other intraoral scanner platforms — without a per-seat scanner-portal license or a vendor approval process. It also means we can only ever see what the email says, which is why we list it field by field rather than asking you to take our word for it.
Same mechanism every time — the platform emails a notification, SimpleLabOS reads it. What differs is how much that email contains.
Usually most of a case
A Medit Link order request normally names the patient and the teeth in its case title, and carries the clinic's own comment in full along with the order ID and a link. That is most of a case before anyone types anything. The shade and material usually sit inside the comment as prose, so you copy those across and set the due date.
A record and a link, nothing clinical
A 3Shape Communicate notice carries the practice, the operator, the operator's email, an order number, the 3Shape case ID and a link to the case — and nothing about the work itself. No patient, no teeth, no shade, no material, no due date: 3Shape keeps all of it behind the link. You get the case record and one-click access to the case, and you finish the entry by hand.
No dedicated reader yet
We have written readers for 3Shape Communicate and Medit Link so far. Everything else, iTero included, goes through the general reader: it fills in a field when the mail writes it as a labelled line ("Patient:", "Shade:"), keeps the full message text on the case regardless, and flags the case urgent if the mail says so. Forward us one of yours and we will tell you exactly what comes out.
Every field, for all three platforms: what we can and can't read from scanner notification emails.
The notification email opens the case record. STL, PLY, OBJ, photo, and PDF files attach to it separately — scanner notifications carry no attachments of their own.
Drag and drop STL, PLY, OBJ, photo, or PDF files straight onto the case card.
Scan a case QR code to upload files straight from a phone — no account required.
Send a secure upload link so a doctor or courier can attach files without logging in.
Once STL, PLY, or OBJ files are attached to a case, they open right on the card in a built-in 3D viewer — no separate scanner software needed to check a scan.
Doctors can also submit cases directly through the free doctor portal, with a full digital Rx form — tooth chart, material, shade, notes — and file upload, no scanner notification email required at all.
Explore the Doctor PortalNo "coming soon" here — these work in the product right now.
Download your invoices as a QuickBooks (.iif) or Xero (CSV) file and import it into your books — no re-entering line items by hand. This is a file export, not a live API sync.
No-login Pay Now links embedded right in invoice emails — doctors pay by card or ACH straight from their inbox, powered by Stripe.
SimpleLabOS does not connect to the iTero, 3Shape or Medit clouds through an API, does not link to a 3Shape LMS or Unite account, and does not pull scan files out of a scanner's portal. It reads an email, and nothing more. If a platform doesn't send a notification email, or changes the format of the one it sends, a case has to be added by hand or through the doctor portal instead.
We would rather tell you that up front than sell you the word "integration" and have you find out in week two. A lab left us over exactly that, and it was right to.
What labs usually ask before switching on scanner email parsing.
No — not in the sense of an API, an account link or an automatic scan download. What SimpleLabOS does is read the notification email the platform sends when a case is submitted and open a case from it. A Medit Link request usually brings the patient and the teeth with it; a 3Shape Communicate notice brings a record and a link and nothing clinical. Case files (STL, PLY, OBJ, photos, PDFs) are attached separately by upload, QR code, secure link, or through the doctor portal.
Any platform whose notification emails your lab receives — iTero, 3Shape, Medit Link and most others. Dedicated readers exist for 3Shape Communicate and Medit Link; everything else goes through the general reader, which picks up labelled lines and always keeps the full message text. Because this works off the email rather than a scanner API, there is no per-seat scanner-portal license or vendor approval required.
Three ways: manual upload straight onto the case card, a QR code scan from a phone, or a secure upload link you send to the doctor. Doctors can also submit a case directly through the doctor portal with a full Rx form and file upload. Once files are attached, they open in a built-in 3D viewer.
QuickBooks and Xero invoice exports, and Stripe for payments — including no-login invoice pay links that accept card or ACH. These are live today, unlike scanner cloud sync.
Yes. You get a 14-day free trial on any plan, so the fastest way to evaluate this is to forward a real notification from each of your platforms on day one and see exactly what comes out. Note that the Scanner Inbox is part of the Standard and Pro plans — the Starter plan does not include it.
That is the whole evaluation: start your free 14-day trial, send us an iTero, 3Shape or Medit email you actually received, and look at what the case comes out like.
